My First Day at ULAB
| This picture was taken by my friend, Souvik Ahmed, at ULAB's Permanent Campus. I visited this campus for the first time when I was in my third semester, (January 2021). |
I am a 22-year-old Bangladeshi student, was looking forward to beginning her life as a university student. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, my journey did not begin as planned. Nevertheless, I was still excited to start my Summer 2020 online classes at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).
At 8:20 AM, I was looking through my email and found the details of my first class which was English-101. I was wondering how amazing it would have been to attend the classes on campus. At the same time, I was quite nervous about how I will make friends and if the faculty was nice or not. The class started at 8:30 AM. 30 students and a teacher joined Google Meet, an online platform on which the class was being conducted. Everyone was silent at first but soon the faculty did an ice-breaking session which helped to get rid of the awkward atmosphere. The students got to know more about the course and what they will be doing this semester.
I was relieved to know that my faculty turned out to be friendly. My online class ended with everyone introducing themselves. It was a rather weird start to my university life, but it was worth it. I honestly can't wait for things to get normal so that I can attend university in person and not virtually. I am hopeful and enthusiastic about what is to come.
